Cider Mill Shop

In Memorium: H. Marcia Decillo 4/28/1936 - 6/4/2011

Marcia DeCillo, the owner of the Cider Mill Antiques, a country shop located in the midst of the historic Hudson Valley, passed away after a battle with Cancer this past June 2011, in her home in Rhinebeck New York. She had been collecting and selling yellowware for the past 30 years. Area expert and collector, Marcia DeCillo also had some Lizzie Proper prized Taghkanic Baskets. Marcia will be remembered also for her "Ask Marcia" web column. .
Unbeknownst to most, Marcia was Darbyhill, an emerging contemporary artist, doing outstanding work and coming to the forefront of the folk art world. Marcia also made custom homespun curtains and pillow covers for the country home.
Marcia had written articles for the Antiques News, an antiques newspaper serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. Her first article appeared in the March 2001 edition (Vol1. No.5), and was titled "Yellow Fever." It's a comprehensive view of the yellow ware market by one of the area's leading experts. Other articles discussed painted cupboards and Antiquing in New England.
She was the Founder and past president of "Red Hook Arts and Antiques Dealers Association" (RHAADA), Marcia had been highlighted on Hudson Valley local television and Exploring the Hudson Valley Magazine.

Marcia will be greated missed by all her friends, family and many life-long customers. She was a wonderful strong woman who has certainly left her mark in the world of antiques.
While Marcia also had considerable expertise with baskets, textiles, old paint primitive furniture, and country smalls, she said, "I am an equestrian at heart." Marcia managed to ride her horse Darc'y, almost every day, in-between buying and selling the best country antiques Red Hook had to offer!
Gran Prix 2 . . . We look good, only took 7 years!

My deepest sympathies to the family & friends of Marcia. I had the pleasure of shopping at Cider Mill many times & the best part was chatting with Marcia. She taught me so much about the wonderful antiques in her shop when I first started collecting & I am honored to have some special pieces to hold in her memory. She will be missed.

Marcia was my Mom's (Peggy Dean) dearest friend. My mother had nothing but kind and gentle words for Marcia. Antiques and horseback riding together were their favorite times together. I too have great stories and memories with Marcia. She will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you .

We did not have the pleasure of ever meeting Marcia, our son's future mother-in-law, but judging from her daughters she must have been a very lovely lady. Our hearts go out to her family.

Marcia and Joe were our neighbors in Maine, and it is difficult to express how much we will miss her. We shared so many good times together. We would go to yard sales on Saturday, and she always had the "best eye". We had so many laughs and shared so many moments. Our sympathies to all of "her girls". She loved them all so, and she was so proud!

I am so sad at the loss of my friend, dear Marcia. She was always there for me. It did not matter if we had not seen each other for long stretches. Once together again, it was as if no time at all had passed. Marcia's greatest legacy is her three wonderful daughters and two adorable grand daughters. She adored them all. Safe and peaceful landing, dear friend, over that last big jump.

Dear Mr. De Cillo and family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. Every time I delivered a parcel to your home she and I would have a laugh over one thing or another. Can't remember if it was a pool or hot tub we would giggle about. Either way i have missed you folks since you moved from Starbarrack Rd. and now I will miss Marcia even more. Heaven has another angel with a smile as wide as the sea.
